Constitution

Chapter 1 General Provisions

  • Article 1 The Society is be called the “Conference for Palliative and Supportive Care in Cancer". In English, it shall be known as the “Sapporo Conference for Palliative and Supportive Care in Cancer”, abbreviated as SCPSC.
  • Article 2The administration and planning of the Society shall be handled by the Secretariat in accordance with the decisions of the Board of Directors.
  • Article 3The secretariat of the Society shall be mainly located at Higashi Sapporo Hospital (Shiroishi Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido).

Chapter 2 Purpose & Business

  • Article 4The Society aims to contribute to cancer medicine (in Japan and Asia) mainly through development of research areas aspects by means of a global conference focused on palliative oncology and psycho-oncology. This research area conforms to the subject group of the Palliative Care in Oncology Symposium of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Subcommittee.
  • Article 5In order to achieve the objectives outlined in the preceding article, the Society will conduct the following projects:
    1. Host international conferences
    2. Pursue other activities in line with the objectives of the Society

Chapter 3 Members

  • Article 6Membership of the Society shall be open to those in agreement with the objectives shown in Chapter 2.

Chapter 4 Officers

  • Article 7In order to operate the Society, a Board of Directors (consisting of a Chairperson, Vice -chairpersons, Directors, Auditors and Advisors) shall be set up.
  • Article 8The Board of Directors shall hold regular annual meetings. Meetings will also be held in accordance with the needs for the preparation of conferences.

Chapter 5 International Conferences

  • Article 9In principle, the Society will hold an international conference every 3 years.
  • Article 10 The conference chairperson and vice-chairperson shall be elected by the Board of Directors, and the organizing committee shall be responsible for planning the conference program under the guidance of the conference chairperson and vice-chairperson.
  • Article 11 The executive committee will be organized by the Secretariat within Higashi Sapporo Hospital, and operate under the direction of and in line with the intentions of the Board of Directors and Program Committee.

Chapter 6 Membership Fees

  • Article 12A participation fee of 30,000 yen for doctors and 15,000 yen for those other than doctors will be collected at the time of the international conference. In addition, any changes to the membership fee will be based on deliberations by the Board of Directors.
  • Article 13The fiscal year for the Society begins April 1 and ends March 31 of the following year.
  • Article 14The membership fees will be managed by the Secretariat, and will be used to offset the expenses associated with inviting foreign lecturers and other projects consistent with the objectives of the Society.
  • Article 15Regarding the settlement of Society accounts, the Secretariat will report to the Board of Directors during the subsequent next fiscal year after auditing by the auditors.

Chapter 7 Co-sponsorship

  • Article 16The Society can, on approval by the Board of Directors, hold international conferences and co-sponsor other projects consistent with the objectives of the Society.

Chapter 8 Supplementary Provisions

  • Article 17 1. Revision or repeal of this Constitution is based on the resolution of the Board of Directors.
    2. The term of office of the Officers will be considered by the Board of Directors at a date to be decided.
    3. This Constitution shall come into force from June 15, 2017.
